Anchorage International Film Festival

I've decided to roll up my sleeves and really get involved with the local film community here in Anchorage. Have just volunteered myself and Greg to be co-program directors of the Snowdance division ie. Alaska-only films.

The festival is open to all filmmakers everywhere, I'm just working on a showcase of Alaska filmmakers.

Anchorage International Film Festival
December 2 - 11, 2005
ENTRY DEADLINE: Sept. 1, 2005

Filmmaker Area:

Anchorage is a small to medium-sized city crouching on the edge of the howling Alaskan wilderness, surrounded by mountains and edged by a frigid and restless sea. It’s far away from Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, and people up here are proud of the fact they do things a little differently from the rest of the world. Independence has always been regarded as an asset and that quality remains a common character trait, even today.

The Anchorage Film Festival is going into its 5th year, and iin our call for entries the founders would like invite you to participate in a festival that is unlike any other. The enthusiasm, sophistication and passion of our audiences will surprise you, the integrity of our judging process is second to none, yet, it is still possible for your film to stand out as, admittedly, we are not overwhelmed by the quantity of entries that must besiege the larger festivals. Besides, up here in the winter, we really don't have that much to do, so immersing ourselves in the selection process and gorging on the vibrant visions of filmmakers is actually a guilty pleasure for us.

We have been visited by the LA Film Festival, Seattle Film Fest, the Sundance Channel, Hypnotic Films, and we were featured in Premiere magazine, and in Canal+  European broadcasted documentary "Around the World in 25 Film Festivals".

We urge you to submit your films and join the other independent filmmakers who have been pleasantly surprised by this so-called sleepy little city by the sea. Thank you.
